As part of the Rackham Graduate School Facilities Office, the Audio Visual Aides (aka Student Event Assistants) provide front-line customer service, well-organized and accurate room setups before and after events, and assists both student and professional clients with audio/visual equipment during their events as well as any other tasks assigned by full-time staff. The Rackham Student Event Assistants ensure positive experiences and successful events for all University of Michigan clients. As Rackham supports both internal University of Michigan events as well as external third-party events, attentiveness and excellent customer service are key. Job Responsibilities: Unlock/lock and prepare event rooms. Perform room setups and teardowns for events, including banquet tables and chairs among other items. Repeated heavy lifting (up to 50lbs) is necessary depending on required setup. Basic troubleshooting of audio/visual equipment, including built-in room AV systems, microphones, HDMI cables, laptops, etc. Specific training will be provided. Represent the University of Michigan and the Rackham Graduate School in a courteous, professional manner. Respond quickly and professionally to customer requests/complaints. Attend staff meetings and trainings as necessary. Maintain student working areas and storage spaces. Record and report any situations that may arise that require the attention of a full-time staff member. Act in accordance to and enforce all Rackham building policies and procedures, escalating conflicts or violations to full-time staff as needed. Specific training and information will be provided
