The ME Academic Services Office (ASO) is looking to hire three knowledgeable declared ME students for our brand new Peer Advisor positions for the 2026-2027 academic school year. We are seeking students with a student service focused work ethic and a strong interest in contributing to fellow ME students’ academic success. As an essential member of the ME ASO Team, the peer advisors will provide student, administrative and programmatic support. Job Description: The ME Peer Advisor (PA) works primarily from the ME ASO office in 2380 G.G. Brown assisting new and continuing students with academic decision-making. The PA offers advice regarding course planning, research opportunities, and student involvement from an undergraduate’s perspective. PAs also attend department events, including serving on student panels, performing demonstrations at the Majors/Minors Fair, and meeting with prospective student families. They also have agency to develop and host their own events. Job Duties Include: - Answer student questions regarding MechEng rules and policies (including knowledge of important dates, course and instructor information, and appropriate resource referrals) via email, in-person, and virtual settings.
- Assist students with questions about the registration process.
- Lead the ME Declaration Orientations.
- Meet with prospective students and their parents; talk about ME, provide program materials, and provide a tour of G.G.Brown, if requested.
- Offer advice based on personal experiences with ME coursework.
- Participate in events, as needed, throughout the academic year, representing the ASO at Campus Days, majors fairs, etc.
- Host a community-building event in the Fall and Winter semesters, including managing a budget for both events.
- Collaborate with the ASO Team on special projects and initiatives.
- Provide administrative support as needed.
A resume is required for consideration for this position. Peer Advisors should plan to work 5-10 hours per week. The schedule will be determined upon hire, but will require in-person work, including Friday hours and some as-needed availability for event coverage.
