Uncovering Diversity in the Askwith Media Library Collection The intern would explore the Askwith Media Library Collection, document the diversity of the collection currently, find how this representation relates to the U-M Library community, and identify what titles can be added to address what is missing from the collection. This project will also serve to inform future collection audits and improve collection development policies to better represent the U-M Library community. Project Deliverables The intern will provide the following deliverables: ****Students also need to fill out this additional form**** Contribute to a weekly reflection “journal” about the project Through careful research, submit an annotated bibliography of “diversity audit” and/or film collection stewardship resources Conduct a competitive analysis of BTAA libraries regarding the diversity of their media collections, based on the selected project scope Develop a matrix of diverse elements for consideration in a collection analysis; conduct that analysis, based on the selected project scope Write a final report of the diversity audit that includes specific recommendations for the Askwith Media Library physical collection, including how to conduct future diversity audits Create a list of film titles for purchase consideration for the Askwith Media Library Provide a final project presentation to Research & Learning and Askwith members, plus write a Student Stories blog post If interested, collaborate with mentors to deliver a future professional presentation or publication about the project
