The Residential College (RC) Academic Services Office, located in East Quad, is seeking a student assistant to provide front-line administrative and student services support. Hours: Approximately 8–15 hours per week, depending on the student’s availability and the needs of the office. Work shifts will be scheduled Monday through Friday during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. The Student Services Assistant will serve as a primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the RC Academic Services Office. Primary responsibilities include: - Scheduling academic advising appointments for RC students and helping students identify the appropriate RC major, minor, or general academic advisor.
- Coordinating East Quad room reservations for faculty, staff, students, and other members of the University community.
- Greeting students and visitors to the Academic Services Office and helping direct them to the appropriate staff member or resource.
- Answering telephone calls and directing inquiries to the appropriate RC office or staff member.
- Assisting faculty and staff with general questions and routine administrative tasks.
- Providing students with basic academic information and guidance when appropriate, such as helping them locate courses in the LSA Course Guide, identify RC courses that may fulfill LSA distribution requirements, or understand which courses may satisfy the RC language requirement.
- Referring students to an academic advisor or other staff member when questions require more specialized advising or interpretation of academic policies.
This position involves regular interaction with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate should be welcoming, dependable, organized, comfortable communicating with others, and able to handle questions and requests with professionalism and discretion. |
