Job Summary:

We are hiring 1 research assistant to work on human-computer interaction and computational social science projects related to the reporting and takedown mechanism of online platforms. 

 

This work involves navigating, posting, and reporting posts on social media platforms like Reddit, 4chan, Discord, and adult sites. You will be given support and guidance, but you must be comfortable engaging with sensitive and potentially distressing content related to online sexual abuse as part of the research process.

Details:

  • Begins September 2026

  • Part-time, approximately 15-20 hours/week

  • $24/hour 

  • Fully remote, no in-person work required

  • Undergraduate and graduate students with a graduation date of Winter 2027 or later are eligible. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Create platform accounts for research 

  • Make posts, report posts, and monitor posts on social media platforms

  • Maintain organized research records including logs of platform features

  • Contribute to research outputs such as reports and literature reviews

Educational Value
  • Knowledge of technology policy, platform governance, and legal debates around AI-generated content

  • Skills in data management, conducting research, and maintaining rigorous research records

  • Understanding of ethical practices for conducting research on sensitive and potentially harmful subject matter

  • Professional written communication through literature synthesis and contributions to research outputs

Job Requirements
  • Experience working on social media platforms and maintaining accounts 

  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing or contributing to research projects

  • Interest in technology policy, platform accountability, or online safety

  • Comfort working with sensitive subject matter involving image-based sexual abuse

Hourly Rate $24.00/hour
