Job Description

The Employer Relations Student Associate works behind-the-scenes with our employer relations staff, supporting recruiting activities. This position is a great fit for someone who is detail-oriented and works well independently. The assistant plays an important role in making on-campus recruiting run smoothly for students & employers. 

Manage employer requests to connect with students via the Handshake recruiting system: user accounts, job/internship postings, events 

Download data across recruiting efforts

Support company interviews hosted at the UCC by preparing interviewer packets and maintaining supplies and spaces for employers 

Greet students &/or employers attending fairs, work at student registration, assist fair manager with any day-of issues 

Cross-train in other areas of the UCC, and based on training, contribute to other areas when necessary 

 
Educational Value

Assistants will develop communication, teamwork, customer service, time- and data-management skills in a professional office environment. 

Working daily with our recruitment team, assistants will gain an inside perspective of campus recruiting and acquire familiarity with a wide variety of job opportunities, industries and the job market. As part of the University Career Center student employee cohort, assistants will participate in joint training sessions, developing a network of peers as well as connections to UCC professional coaching staff, services, and resources. 

 

Job Requirements

Current undergraduate student at U-M Ann Arbor for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027

Available to work 8-10 hours per week during UCC operating hours and regular semester dates, with the flexibility to spread those hours throughout the week 

Detail-oriented, dependable, and timely 

Proficiency in use of technology (e.g., Google Drive/Sheets, Microsoft Office Excel, Internet browsers/web research, databases) is desirable 

Good communication and interpersonal skills 

An inclusive attitude and values the diverse racial, ethnic, economic, and religious traits of others 

Ability to learn new skills, ask for help when needed, and accept constructive feedback ? Willingness to jump in and help with projects and to meet time-sensitive goals
