The University Library is seeking applicants for one student assistant position in the Technical Services Department at Hatcher Graduate Library.  The primary purpose of this position is to input musical scores metadata for a portion of the Sheet Music Collection from the University of Michigan’s Music Library.  The Sheet Music Collection contains hundreds of rare and early twentieth-century music scores. Duties include assisting the Resource Description Unit by evaluating sheet music to source data to assist in the creation of bibliographic records, bibliographic searching in our local database, and assisting in the care of these rare materials and their next step in the project.

Required: The successful candidate must be able to recognize and transcribe resource metadata accurately; must be detail-oriented; must be able to communicate effectively; must be able to effectively work both independently and in a team environment; must be able to follow a set schedule and maintain good work attendance.  

Desired:  Experience with data entry, database management and database maintenance; experience with sheet music, experience or desire to work in a library environment.
