Assist in the fabrication of millimeter-scale components used in high-energy-density physics experiments by performing work in the Lurie Nanofabrication Facility (LNF) with a staff mentor. 

Responsibilities:

• Work directly with a staff mentor on projects such as metal and polymer coatings, lithography, and metrology
• Research fabrication methods to assist in the planning of complex multi-step processes
• Handle fragile, small (1-5mm) pieces
• Read and follow SOPs for LNF equipment
• Maintain detailed notes of processes performed and measurements taken

You will be trained to use all of the equipment and to handle small pieces, and no prior experience is necessary. 

• Must be able to work in a cleanroom facility (full PPE required) 
• Must have availability during the M-F, 9am-5pm work week to work 4-6 consecutive hours in a shift
• This is open to all undergraduate majors and no specific classes are required, but a background in chemistry or materials science is preferred
• Strong attention to detail required
