About the ITS Infrastructure

The ITS Infrastructure team provides essential communications, computing, and systems support, enhancing cellular coverage, designing and maintaining contact centers, hosting critical data in research and administrative data centers, and connecting the university to the global network. They also manage telephones for university business, engineer and implement various services across campus units, and maintain information systems for ordering and billing, among many other vital projects.

About this Position

ITS Infrastructure is looking to develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI) solution to assist with Resource (People) Capacity Management. The final solution will be integrated with other ITS systems or have the capability to ingest data from other systems in an automated manner.The expectation for the solution is to provide insightful information on individual project and work assignments across the organization with the capability to support What/If questions to support leadership decision making.

The final candidate is expected to work 10 hours per week and be part of a small team working to develop the solution.

 

Responsibilities*

  • Write production-quality web service code Golang, Python, and Rust with some familiarity with FastAPI is a plus

  • Work alongside a team consisting of a developer, performance support and project manager to improve the efficiency of existing solution features

  • Apply technical standards and architectural patterns that enable rapid experimentation and continuous delivery

  • Document workflows and data processes that support the solution’s capabilities

  • Troubleshoot production issues as they arise

  • Actively participate in code reviews, emphasizing best practices for software engineering

What You'll Do

ITS Infrastructure is seeking a student temp software developer to join our team. This is a hands-on role, where you will work to develop and launch an AI solution to support resource capacity management. You will work with a small team of individuals to implement and launch the final solution. This position will report to the project manager.

 
 
Educational Value

The final candidate will work in an immersive environment of AI development. Professionals in software development, performance support, and project management will guide and mentor the candidate throughout the project. The candidate will work through a project lifecycle from planning through final delivering.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications*

  • Education: Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Programming Aptitude: Basic familiarity with at least one programming language (Golang, Python, and Rust)

  • Problem-Solving: Eagerness to research, troubleshoot, and learn new technical concepts independently.

  • Communication: Good interpersonal and communication skills with a willingness to ask questions and accept constructive feedback.

  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as manage individual task deadlines.
