Job Description

TITLE: Digital Tools Assistant

Are you interested in the intersection of technology and design? We're hiring someone to help test generative AI tools for our marketing and design team and help support digital accessibility work across our content. This includes testing video workflows in ComfyUI, setting up custom assistants using U-M AI platforms, and exploring accessibility tools. The role also includes occasional multimedia support, but the main focus is digital tool testing.

We pride ourselves on being one of the top marketing and communications units on campus. We're a fun group of professionals who enjoy working at the top of our game. We're looking for someone curious about how AI and accessibility tools actually work in a production environment, and who cares about making our content usable for everyone.

Responsibilities

  • Test generative AI tools for thoughtful marketing and design use cases.

  • Build and refine custom AI assistants (U-M GPT, Maizey) for the team's specific workflows.

  • Write and test prompts to improve output quality for creative and communications tasks.

  • Document what works, what doesn't, and why, so the team can use these tools effectively.

Multimedia support (occasional)

  • Responsible use of AI tools to create design material for web and social media platforms.

Digital accessibility (occasional)

  • Explore digital accessibility tools and remediation techniques.

Educational Value
  • Hands-on experience testing AI tools in a real marketing and communications setting.
  • Practical accessibility skills: learn about digital accessibility.

  • Direct exposure to how a university marketing team evaluates and adopts new tools.

  • Some cross-training in multimedia production and asset management.
