Job Description

Come work with the U-M Urban Energy Justice Lab! This project examines how cities transition toward low-carbon energy systems by studying policies, business models, community experiences, and equity outcomes in Detroit, Chicago, and Columbus. A student research assistant will support mixed-methods data collection and analysis across four core activities: mapping urban energy-transition policies; assessing economic and business-model impacts of decarbonization projects; conducting community-focused research through surveys, interviews, and photovoice; and assisting with a multi-state convening of stakeholders to co-produce knowledge on equitable energy transitions.

Job Requirements

Some work experience in community-engaged research; ability to travel to case study cities (Detroit, Chicago, and Columbus); organized; writing skills

Educational Value

Learn to execute community-based participatory research; participate in the design and development of data analysis procedures; perform mathematical computations and computer set-up tasks; design questionnaires and edit manuscripts; assist in judging the validity of test data; and prepare reports or data presentations.
