Job Posting Guidelines

Please keep the following rules in mind:

  1. Using this job posting website indicates that you understand and will abide by this disclaimer and other provisions of student employment.
  2. We recommend that student postings be part-time (no more than 29 hours per week).
  3. Advertised jobs will be posted on the website for a period of 30 days. If you would like to remove the job posting before this or extend the posting period, email the Student Employment Office at student.employment@umich.edu.
  4. Each job posting must include a contact person and pay rate, with at least one of the following: phone number, fax number or email address.
  5. We do not post positions at personal residences. This includes, but is not limited to, babysitting, gardening, or in-home care.
  6. We do not advertise jobs on our site that require any form of financial commitment on the part of students. (For example, students must not be required to take pre-paid training courses before a job begins or be required to purchase any sort of work-related materials.)
  7. We only post hourly wage positions; contract, commission based, or "cash-in-hand" jobs will not be approved.
  8. We only post positions with employers with a main office in the state of Michigan and only if the work will be performed in the state of Michigan.
  9. The U-M Student Employment Office reserves the right to edit or refuse submitted job postings.
